About
This guide provides the main information to help users access and use our physical collections. You must register with your library in order to borrow books and other items available in the collection.
E-books - Minha Biblioteca
The libraries also provide electronic versions of several books from your course collection through the Minha Biblioteca platform. Register using the registration form. Access will be released within 2 business days.
Distance-learning students and professors do not need to request registration. Access the platform using your CPF number (remove any leading zeros).
Your password is your date of birth + the last two digits of your CPF.

Loans periods
Loan periods* vary according to the type of material and the user category.

* The loan period for books from UABJ is 8 days due to the size of its collection.
** Monographs, theses, dissertations, journals, and other materials.
Special Loan
Exceptionally, with authorization from the User Services Coordination, users may borrow up to 3 additional items beyond the permitted limit, for a maximum period of 24 hours.
Renewal
Users may renew borrowed materials provided that the item is not overdue and has not been reserved by another user.
The renewal period is the same as the original loan period and is counted from the date the renewal is processed in the system.
Renewals can be made:
- At the libraries;
- At self-service terminals on campus; or
- Through My Pergamum.
Renewal is not permitted for users with outstanding issues, such as overdue materials or unpaid fines.
Reservations
1. Search for the item in the Pergamum catalog.
2. If all copies are on loan or unavailable, click the Reserve button in the bottom menu, enter your CPF/student ID and password, and confirm the reservation.
You can check the status of your reservation through My Pergamum.
A reserved item will be available for 48 hours, starting from the date the item is returned to the service desk.
Paying Fines
Returning materials after the due date results in a fine of R$1.50 per day and per item.
The SIB-UFRPE libraries offer two payment options:
Food Donation
Check the amount of your outstanding fine in My Pergamum and pay the fine by donating food directly at the library service desk, according to the conversion table below.
Donated food must be non-perishable and not close to its expiration date.
Cornmeal (fubá) and salt are not accepted.

Payment by GRU, Credit Card, or Pix
- Access My Pergamum and on side menu, go to Loan -> Debit

- Click Generate GRU.

- On the PagTesouro page, check your personal information and the amount of the fine, then click Iniciar Pagamento (Start Payment).

- Select one of the three payment options: Pix, Credit Card, or GRU.
If you choose GRU, the payment can only be made at Banco do Brasil.
Credit card payments are subject to interest charges.

- After making the payment, send the payment receipt by email to your library:

Lost or Missing Materials
If you lose or misplace library material, you must notify the library where the item was borrowed and arrange for a replacement, following these requirements:
- The replacement must be the same edition as the lost item or a subsequent edition.
- The replacement must be in good condition and must not have mold, marked or stamped pages, torn or mutilated pages, writing or highlighting, or any other damage that could compromise the use or reading of the material.
- If the edition is out of print, contact the User Services Coordination for guidance on the appropriate procedure.
